Yes, that gives me "pause," too. Not only in communication with others, but also when conversing in my head with myself, putting the notion aside for awhile leads, I think, to a better formulation, presentation or plan. I like to come up with an idea about something I want to do or communicate, but then work out at the health club and take a dip in the swimming pool for an interlude before I try to formulate it as my proposition or opinion, and communicate it to someone else. As a matter of fact, when I don't take a pause, I invariably regret it either because I have been to hasty, too opionated (which will elicit skepticism and resistance) or too patronizing (same result), or not yet done organizing my thoughts. (And often I have mispelled something, too, to boot!).
