Yes, good point, and nice illustration. Thx! It really is a kindness for one to signal to the other when the end is near.

Last night I finished watching the HULU six-part series where Paul McCartney is discussing and explaining his creative process with music producer Rick Rubin. Sir Paul emphasized the need to find a way to let the audience know when it was the end of a song and time to applaud or otherwise respond. He said you need to do this in order to avoid the experience where the audience doesn't know that it is the end. He also explained the importance of pauses. Maybe phobic avoidance of anticipatory anxiety or consequential consternation and confusion can be tamed by deftly signaling and communicating an extended offer of mutual gartification. Or did I just describe orgasm?

I am curious about this study and when it was done and the age groups with the percentages noted. For example, might we have changed since the Pandemic? Might older folk want to talk longer? Might it depend on what we are talking about? What about romantic partners? What about teenagers? Seems this study is homogenizing conversations and I suspect that the percentages differ vastly depending on timing, age, stage, subject, context and location. Just saying: the study doesn't scare me yet. We need to know more. End of conversation.
