The Scarecrow puzzled whether the Wizard's grand machinery was just "humbug" and even the Wizard of Oz himself did not really disprove that. But the proof is in the pudding, isn't it? As put in the famous words of Dr. John Collins Warren when he reassured doubters after performing the first surgery under anesthesia without pain in the Etherdome at MGH, "This is no humbug!" So Dorothy's positivity earned the trust of her companions to get to what they each most wanted because they had what it takes all along so long as they opened themselves to the courage of positivity. And Dorothy herself clicked her heels and returned to Kansas, just as Scrooge came to accept the Spirit despite his curmudgeon dismissal.
